AI/Computer Science Faculty Honored at Annual Awards and Recognition Dinner

Several members of the Department of Computer Science faculty were honored at Stony Brook University’s Annual Awards and Recognition Dinner on October 3rd at the Center for Leadership and Service. Hosted by Interim President Michael Bernstein, the event celebrated 2019's Faculty Achievement and Chancellor’s Award recipients.

Computer Science received eight Faculty Achievement awards, one of only two departments to be recognized eight or more times. In addition, Paul Fodor was awarded a SUNY Chancellor's Excellence in Teaching Award. CS Faculty Achievement winners included:

Arie Kaufman - National Academy of Inventors, Fellow
Klaus Mueller - Induction to the National Academy of Inventors
Nick Nikiforakis - Amazon Research Award
Robert Patro - NSF Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER)
Michalis Polychronakis - DARPA Young Faculty Award; NSF Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER)
Steven Skiena - American Association for the Advancement of Science, Fellow
