Terahertz emission, detection and imaging technologies and their applications in biophotonics, medical imaging, non-destructive testing, material characterization and stand-off detection of chemicals

Research

The research projects in Arbab Lab are focused on the invention of new terahertz emission, detection and imaging technologies and their applications in biophotonics, medical imaging, non-destructive testing, material characterization, and stand-off detection of chemicals. Arbab's team's work spans electro-optic theory development, modeling, instrumentation, and imaging signal processing techniques. The projects are sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the Coulter Foundation, and the Boeing Company. The lab is located in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the State University of New York (SUNY), Stony Brook. Before moving to Stony Brook, the group was part of the Applied Physics Laboratory at the University of Washington (APL-UW).
