Biography

Dr. Samita M. Heslin earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees from Harvard University; her M.D., M.B.A., and M.P.H. degrees from Stony Brook University; and her M.S. degree from Oregon Health & Science University. She completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was Chief Resident. She is board certified in both Emergency Medicine and Clinical Informatics. She serves as Deputy Chief Medical Information Officer at Stony Brook Medicine.

Research

Dr. Heslin’s research focuses on the integration of artificial intelligence into healthcare delivery. Her work centers on AI-enabled clinical decision support, human-AI interaction, and real-world implementation in clinical environments. She also studies responsible AI deployment, governance frameworks, and the role of artificial intelligence in medical education and workforce development.
